The Music
You can bet the The Bug Jar will fulfill the musical needs most nights of the week. Live music and D.Js alike grace the stage with some pre-show trivia here and there. The bands can cover a wide variety of genres and include local and acts and smaller touring bands. While there is a cover most nights, you can rarely expect to pay more then $10. There website gives a little insight onto the bands they've hosted:

The Venue
The Bug Jar got going in 1991 and they are open every night from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. The venue includes both the area with the stage and a separate bar area. If your a beer fan and like a to have a few local beers, they do not disappoint with a good number of beers from Rochester and the surrounding area on tap.
To give a quick run down of the place, when you enter you'll find the bar, tables, and all those things one expects. You'll have to go to the back of the bar and loop around to find the stage. It's a small room and the roof is low, so the sound blares around as one would expect. For me, it's often the little things that tickle my entertainment bones, and taking a glance at the roof, you'll see a whole bug house above you. On first read you may not understand what I mean, but its what I said: upside down, on the roof is the appliances and rooms of a bug house. Why you may ask; probably just because they can.
