Ash Street Saloon- Portland, OR

The Ash Street Saloon is a in some ways your typical dirty and grimy rock bar. It's a dive bar, by all variations of the definitions, but come to think of it, would you want it any other way? It's in Portland's Old Town district, where nightclubs and strip clubs mix with the homeless and a 24/7 doughnut shop.
From their website
Music
At Ash Street Saloon there is live bands almost every night of the week, with Monday being the only exception were they have a DJ. The bands alter between local acts and small touring bands. Cover is almost always $5 and sometimes just a little more for a more well known band. Punk, metal, and rock are what you can often expect at Ash Street, although they do say they are open to all genres.
Check out their web page if you have an interest in what is coming up, they often provide links for the bands. That being said, don't shy from just showing up; it might take your musical tastes in a whole new direction.
The Venue
Ash Street has a large room with a full stage for the bands to perform. The walls are adorned with superheros sporting mustaches and you'll see a bike on the roof. There are some tables scatter about, mostly near the back, and a bar that is open now and again. The main bar is right out the back, with a nice large entrance, allowing people at the bar and the pinball machines to see and hear the bands while not being directly in the room. As would be expected, cheap beers are available for those rocking on a budget, but there are also craft beers on tap.
